Fall Programs
We are so excited that our three in-person Intergenerational programs are once again connecting members of the community across generations. We are offering COW Corner, Rhymes that Bind and Do-Re-Mi, ABC programs in senior communities where we have partnered together in their facilities. The smiles are so heartwarming from our gran-friends, children and parents. All of our in-person programs also welcome drop-ins once more.

One of our adult programs has seen a return to in-person programming as well. The Centre for Family Literacy office site is the location for a series of workshops teaching Basic Digital Skills to adults on topics that can be used immediately in their daily lives. Topics such as learning about the Google Workspace, creating Resumes and Cover Letters, and even creating a Digital Cookbook. It's never too early and it's never too late to learn new skills!

Cyber Security Awareness Month in Canada

Cyber Security Awareness Month (Cyber Month) is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to help the public learn more about the importance of cyber security. The campaign helps Canadians stay secure online by teaching them simple steps to protect themselves and their devices. As we navigate an increasingly digital world, building robust cyber security habits is essential.

If you wish to learn more about your digital safety, mark your calendar for November 15, 2023, for our Basic Digital Skills workshop on Online Safety. In this session, we will cover how to keep yourself protected from phishing scams, malware or online identity theft. Learn how to spot scams, spam and keep yourself safe online. See real-life examples and learn practical strategies to keep you safe while using the internet.

Volunteer for Our Casino Fundraiser
If you’ve been looking for more ways to get involved and support CFL, you’re in luck! We are holding a casino fundraiser on March 17th and 18th at Century Casino and we need LOTS of volunteers. Join us yourself, bring your friends, or share the word.

Tutor Appreciation Day
We are excited to celebrate our second annual Tutor Appreciation Day on Friday, October 20th!

Our tutors don’t just help with literacy skills; they build trust, instill confidence, and share genuine excitement as learners make progress toward their goals. Tutors enrich the lives of their learners and the impact of their work is felt by our entire community.

To give our thanks, we CFL staff are sharing our knowledge and talents in a service giveaway! Tutors will be able to choose from prizes such as book recommendations, spots in training sessions, dedicated social media posts, and much more.

Join us in expressing our heartfelt gratitude for the 80 tutors currently in our program, those that came before, and the many we have yet to meet.
