April Learner of the Month

Congratulations, Jay, for being our April Learner of the Month!
Jay is a committed and passionate learner. Our team appreciates her dedication and positive attitude in our Adult Book Club class. She consistently works hard to improve her vocabulary and reading, and she can always be counted on to ask thoughtful questions. We can really see her love for learning and her eagerness to try new things. Her confidence in class really helps the others feel comfortable and encourages them to participate. Jay makes our class a welcoming and supportive place for everyone! She is a wonderful part of our community of adult learners.

Beanie’s Quest Continues

Thank you to everyone who joined Beanie the Bookworm on the quest to celebrate the Centre for Family Literacy’s 25th Anniversary!

The first chapter of Beanie’s Quest - including the prize draw - has officially wrapped up. We had an amazing time exploring, learning, and celebrating literacy with you!
But Beanie’s adventure isn’t over - it’s just getting started, and now it’s your turn to lead the way! Here’s how to keep the quest going:
🕵️‍♂️ Find a Beanie figurine hidden in a public location (follow our social media for hints!)
🚶‍♂️ Move Beanie to a new, fun, and safe public spot for someone else to discover
📸 Snap a photo with Beanie at the new location
📱 Post the photo on social media, tag the Centre for Family Literacy, and tell us where Beanie is now - either share the exact location or drop a clever clue to keep the adventure alive!

Let’s keep the spirit of literacy, learning, and exploration going strong.

Reflection on National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week was so much fun! This year, we recognized some truly awesome volunteers with Volunteer Awards (visit the link below to read their stories on our website), played CFL Trivia, and had a blast at our bowling night celebration. Please join us in saying one more thank you to our volunteer team!

Our trivia winner, Purbi, shared a few words on her experience at the event: “I recently had the chance to be part of the Trivia Night organized by Claudia at the CFL, and it was an absolute delight! The session was beautifully curated, featuring a range of interactive segments and polls that touched on various aspects of family literacy programs. It was not only a great way to learn and connect, but also a perfect mid-week stress buster. With fun questions, engaging discussions, and some exciting goodies to be won, Trivia Night is truly a highlight to look forward to!”
