They asked, and we listened! The online format of our adult programs allows learners the flexibility to attend programs without worrying about childcare, transportation, or other barriers that may prevent them from attending in-person. Despite the many benefits of the online format, our learners still miss the face-to-face interaction and socialization that comes with in-person learning.
Our Adult Book Club theme was food and poetry this past session. Participants were asked to submit their favourite recipes each week to add to our CFL Cookbook. Early in the session, one participant brought up the idea of getting together for a potluck. In her words:
“It would be nice if we could get together and share our recipes in-person”.
The other participants also agreed that this is something they would be interested in. Our team immediately set to work planning what will be our first annual Poetry and Potluck in the Park event. It will take place on Tuesday, August 22, from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm at Woodcroft Community Park located at 13915 115 Ave NW. All adult learners, tutors, and volunteers are invited to attend and share food and fellowship.
