As many of you know, we parked our Classroom on Wheels (COW) Bus during the Covid-19 pandemic. We were excited to bring the COW Bus back into the community for the 2022 and 2023 program sessions. However, our COW Bus faced a lot of mechanical issues. This caused disruptions to the program and unsafe driving conditions for our staff. In addition, Covid-19 has changed how many people attend programs and receive services in general, leading to significant shifts in the needs that the mobile program initially addressed. After much maintenance work and many hard conversations, the decision was made in the fall of 2023 to put our COW Bus out to pasture.
Our COW program has been, and will continue to be offered throughout our community and online, it will just look a little different. To better express the changes, we will be retiring the program name and changing it to Story Sprouts, effective Fall 2024. Our in person programs will still be held in various locations in our community, offering fun, interactive and engaging programming, while continuing to lend out books to families who attend these programs.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our CFL Golf Tournament Committee who raised over $440K in support of the program for 13 years, Southland Transportation and ETS Ferrier Garage whose support has been invaluable to the CFL and our COW Bus program. Your dedication and services are deeply appreciated. Together, we ARE changing lives!
